PURPOSE:To make the amount of electrostatic charging uniform and obtain a copy image with good reproducibility by using an image carrier which is constituted by laminating a plurally partitioned transparent conductive layer, the 1st photoconductive layer, a light shielding insulating layer, and the 2nd photoconductive layer in order. CONSTITUTION:This device forms an image while rotating a drum 10, and when light sources 11 and 13 are turned on in a discharging process within a range A shown by an arrow, light strikes photoconductive layers 10b and 10d and charges in the photoconductive layers disappear. When the photosensitive drum 10 rotates until its part corresponding to the transparent photoconductive layer 10a2 enters the range B shown by the arrow, the voltage from a power source 20 is applied to irradiate the part with the light from a light source 15. The light strikes the photoconductive layer 10d, but does not reach the photoconductive layer 10b, so the composite capacitor consisting of the photoconductive layer 10b and light shielding insulating layer 10c is charged. At this time, the photoconductive layer 10d is held at the ground potential. The drum 10 rotates and is irradiated with a laser beam from inside by exposing means 3-5 to obtain an electrostatic latent image corresponding to an image information signal. |
