The said shoe 40 comprises an upper 41, at least one sole 43 secured to this upper, as well as a shock-absorbing material, 44, 45 inserted between the said sole and the foot of the wearer. A stabiliser 30 with a high modulus of elasticity is inserted between the foot of the wearer and the shock-absorbing material 44, 45 over which it lies. This stabiliser 30, which is thin, light and has a high modulus of elasticity, can flex without permanent deformation when a force giving rise to a bending stress is imposed on it and can then resume its initial configuration when the said force ceases. This stabiliser 30 gives back, to the wearer of the shoe 40, the energy which it has absorbed and stored. Application particularly to shoes for sports played on courts. <IMAGE>
