PURPOSE:To manufacture a wire rod as a material for the outer winding of a wound string giving superior sound rising characteristics and a superior tone quality and causing no discoloration even in air by adding a little silver to brass as a metal for the outer winding wire of a wound string of a plucked string instrument. CONSTITUTION:The bass string of a plucked string instrument such as guitar is obtd. by winding an outer winding wire around a core wire of steel, nylon or the like. As the outer winding wire a thin wire rod of a Cu alloy contg. 0.5- 2wt% Ag and 15-25wt% Zn is used. This thin wire rod for the outer winding of a wound string gives a clear and distinct sound rising and a deep tone quality and causes no discoloration in air.
