PURPOSE:To improve the contrast of the liquid crystal display body an to lighten the display of the titled body by controlling the product of a thickness of the liquid crystal layer an the birefringence of the liquid crystal to a range of 0.55-0.85, and by tilting the polarizing axis of the polarizer and the optical axis of the liquid crystal. CONSTITUTION:The light emitted from the light source 12 is reached to the receiving part 14 through the cell 15. The transparent ITO electrode is provided on the forward substrate 2 in a figure state. The orientation agent of a polyimide type is further coated on the transparent ITO electrode, and is treated it with rubbing. The backward substrate 5 is similarly treated as mentioned above. The substrates 2 and 5 are distanced with a spacer 3 remaining the thickness of the liquid crystal layer. The polarizer 1 is stuck with an adhesives in the frontward of the cell, and the analyzer 6 is stuck with the adhesives in the backward substrate. The product of the thicknesses of the birefringence and the liquid crystal layer is controlled to the range of 0.55-0.85mu. The polarizing axis of the polarizer 1 is tilted from the optical axis of the liquid crystal 11, thereby obtaining an excellent sharpness. The titled liquid crystal display body having the high brightness of the display is obtd.
