PURPOSE:To permit analysis of C in molten steel quickly and handily at a steel making field or the like by dipping a refractory probe into the molten steel having an oxygen compound at a small-diameter tube section with small holes to form CO and CO2, which are introduced to a determination system with an inert gas being sent to the probe. CONSTITUTION:A refractory capsule or the like is filled with an oxygen compound such as CuO and FeO, mounted into a small-diameter tube section 2 of an opaque quartz tube 1 in a probe and a small hole 4 is provided at thetip of the tube section 2. After an O ring 7 is fitted thereinto with connection fittings 6a and 6b, a large-diameter tube section 3 of the quartz tube 1 is connected airtight removably to a stainless tube 5 and fixed. A sampling gas conveying tube 9 and an inert gas feed tube 8 are mounted into the tube 5. This probe is put into molten steel and C in the molten steel coming into the small-diameter tube section 2 from small holes 4 at the tip thereof reacts CuO and the like to form CO and CO2, which is sent to a determination system with an inert gas. The quantity of C in the molten steel is automatically measured by infrared absorption or the like and the results are indicated or recorded. |
