The element frame of the panel element is a composite frame made of at least two surround profiles which are the same as one another and, received between these, at least one connecting profile surrounded by the surround profiles on sides at a distance from one another, in which there can advantageously be an insulating core made of rigid expanded polyurethane for example. The surround profiles and the connecting profile engage in one another at least in sections and form an insertion connection. Arranged at least on one of the surround profiles is a mounting which receives the outer edge of a pane and which can be formed directly in one piece on one of the surround profiles. Expediently, the pane, which is received with its outer edge in said mounting, extends beyond the clear leaf dimension.
