Transport vessels, in particular ships, are equipped with a cellular structure for transporting containers (11), which cellular structure serves as a guide during loading and unloading and as a support for the containers during transport. Hitherto only containers (11) of a certain size could be accommodated in such a cellular structure. The transport vessel described here is equipped with a cellular structure which contains supports (10) which are suitable for alternatively accommodating containers (11) of different standard size. The containers (11) are supported in the transverse direction by continuous transverse supporting surfaces (13) on the supports (10), which transverse supporting surfaces (13) run essentially parallel to the respective longitudinal surface (12) of the corner fittings. The containers (11) are supported in the longitudinal direction on connecting frames (29) running essentially to the respective transverse surfaces (14) of the corner fittings and detachably connected to the supports (10). Room can be made for accommodating a large container (11) by removing the connecting frames (29) between two supports. The large container (11) is then guided and supported by the supports adjacent to these supports (10). <IMAGE>
