The subject of the application is a displacement sensor for measuring the working position of the pick-up device of a harvesting machine, such as a cutting and drawing-in unit of a combine harvester. The displacement sensor has reed switches arranged in series behind one another and at least one switching magnet movable along this, of which one of the elements movable relative to one another is connected to the pick-up device and the other to the machine frame. The displacement sensor is to be improved to the effect that an exact guidance of the elements displaceable relative to one another is ensured. For this, the reed switches are arranged along a guide profile, made of magnetically non-conductive material, on or in which is guided a displacement element receiving the switching magnet.
