To produce nutrient media for bacteria and other microorganisms by mixing basic ingredients and active ingredients it is proposed that the basic ingredients be stored in combination with agar in solid form or without agar in liquid form in a container, and the active ingredient or active ingredients be sterilised in liquid form by filtration and placed in a second container, and the basic ingredients and active ingredients are not mixed in the amounts specified for the nutrient medium until used.
