<p>Lampholder assembly for receiving one or more loop-, u-, or pi-shaped gas discharge or fluorescent lamps, with a single lamp cap, whereby the lampholder is provided with internal electrical interconnections so that the lampholder can be directly connected to the ballast by means of two electrical contacts (30 and 31) and the lampholder is also provided with the electrical contacts (32 and 33) for the electrical power supply. In accordance with a preferred embodiment the lampholder can also be directly connected to the ballast by means of a mechanical connection. Electrical interconnections with electrical contacts for a separate starter are provided, if required. In one embodiment the lampholder casing is comprised of two sections with internal recesses, in which the electrical contacts and spring electrical interconnections can be fitted, such that by clamping the lampholder sections together, the relative electrical contacts are connected. A lampholder assembly, which incorporates the principles of the invention, provides a saving on mounting and wiring costs, when assembling a basic lighting unit, a lighting unit or a lighting fixture for connecting one or more lamps, of the type mentioned above, to the electrical power supply, whereby the so created lighting unit looks aesthetically attractive and is suitable for any visible application.</p> |
