Method of mass-flow measurement

A method of continuously determining the mass flow of a bulk material is described, in which a mass-flow meter with a whirl gate through which the material flows is used. The method essentially comprises measuring the power consumption of the whirl-gate motor and converting it into a proportional voltage signal, and compensating for the component of this voltage signal corresponding to the power consumption during idling by a voltage signal derived from the continuous measurement of the mains voltage and set to the magnitude of the idling component. The measuring signal which results is then directly proportional to the mass flow.
