The invention relates to a device for making a tunnel safe or for lagging a tunnel, with a transportable curved chamber which consists of elastic hollow bodies which can be inflated by pressure medium and can be pressed sheet-like against the surrounding tunnel walls and the hollow spaces of which run essentially radially to the longitudinal axis of the tunnel. The object of the invention is to create a casing of the above-mentioned type, which is flexible on one side but is distinguished on the other side by considerably higher strength, considerably longer service life and considerably greater bearing capacity compared with the prior art. This object is essentially achieved in that the entropy-elastic hollow bodies (3) are provided on their outside (15) and/or inside (16) with equidistant reinforcing strips (17) of steel running in the same direction as the longitudinal axis (7) of the tunnel.
