PURPOSE:To decarburize and dephosphorize efficiently molten steel refined to specified carbon and oxygen contents by blowing a converter by adding a flux contg. sodium carbonate to the molten steel. CONSTITUTION:Molten steel refined to <=0.1% carbon content and >=200ppm oxygen content by blowing in a converter is efficiently decarburized and dephosphorized by adding a flux contg. sodium carbonate to the molten steel. Soda ash, sodium hydrogencarbonate or sodium potassium carbonate, especially soda ash is used as the sodium carbonate.
