A device for transmitting data via a telephone line in which a device (4, 5) to transmit and receive data is connected in each case on the subscriber side and on the exchange side to the telephone line (3a, 3b). Each of the devices (4, 5) for transmitting and receiving data has transmitters (4a, 5a) and receivers (4b, 5b) to generate or to receive an RF carrier signal modulated with an AF frequency signal. The feed voltages for the devices (4, 5) for transmitting and receiving data are supplied as a DC voltage via the telephone line (3a, 3b). The dial pulses generated by the subscriber station (1) are kept apart from the telephone line (3a, 3b) and are fed as additional data to the subscriber-side device (4) for transmitting and receiving data, converted into corresponding data signals, transmitted via the telephone line (3a, 3b) and converted in the exchange-side device (5) for transmitting and receiving data into DC voltage control signals which are fed as dial pulses to the exchange (2). <IMAGE>
