PURPOSE:To manufacture a good-quality adsorbent at low cost by supplying raw-material coal having a specified crucible swelling number from the upper part of a moving bed reactor, supplying a heating gas contg. an activated gas from the lower part of the reactor, and heating, carbonizing, and activating the raw-material coal. CONSTITUTION:Crushed coal or molded coal (obtained by granulating pulverized coal with a binding agent) having <=3 crucible swelling number is supplied as the raw-meterial coal from the upper part of a countercurrent moving bed reactor 1, and a high-temp. waste gas, obtained by burning heavy oil, coal, or gaseous fuel in a furnace 2, is supplied from the lower part of the reactor 1. Then the carbonaceous material in the reactor 1 is heated to 750-1,000 deg.C to dry-distil, carbonize the carbonaceous material, and to carry out the activation reaction with H2O and SO2. In this case, steam is added into the high-temp. waste gas when needed to promote efficiently the activation reaction. The adsorbent obtained by the carbonization and activation is taken out from the bottom part of the reactor 1 by a discharging machine. In this way, inexpensive and high-quality carbonaceous adsorbent can be manufactured. |
