Polystyrene waste, in particular from expanded polystyrene, is moulded under high pressure and with supply of heat to form a viscous material, the material is discharged in sheet form through a discharge die and, upon emerging from the discharge die, subdivided into strip-shaped individual pieces by a cutting device, preferably by an internally cooled impact cutter, and the individual pieces are deposited on an endless conveyor and cooled until shortly before complete hardening and comminuted with the still cuttable, elastic consistency to form a pourable material. The device for carrying out this process comprises a heatable press which can be operated continuously, the cutting device following the discharge die of the press and the endless conveyor conveying from the region below the discharge die.
|
