PURPOSE:To enhance electric capacity and improve life span of charging and discharging cycle of chargeable battery by utilizing a particular activated carbon fiber as the one electrode. CONSTITUTION:Rechargeable active substance is used as a first electrode, while an activated carbon fiber having fine hole in radius of 10-50Angstrom and the specific surface area of 500-2,500m<2>/g formed by BET method is used as a second electrode. For example, a fibered phenor resin is subjected to heat treatment in the N2 gas ambient at about 1,000 deg.C and thereby an activated carbon fiber with specific surface area of 2,300m<2>/g is obtained by BET method. It is processed to unwoven cloth in the thickness of 0.5mm. and is punched into a circular shape. It is then stacked on a titanium lath board of the same size to form a positive pole 6. With a lithium metal formed as a negative pole 3, a secondary battery is formed using unwoven polypropylene as a separator 4 and a mixed liquid of propylene carbonate and DME with addition of lithium perchlorate as an electrolyte. |
