PURPOSE:To obtain a floor mat having excellent water resistance and heat resistance, by coating the reverse surface of a carpet smoothly with a specific backing material, applying a synthetic resin adhesive containing a specific organic solvent to the surface of the backing material, and laminating a mat base after drying the adhesive. CONSTITUTION:The reverse surface of a carpet is coated with a backing material resistant to water and heat and having the property to be swollen and soften with a synthetic resin adhesive, e.g. a copolymer of methyl methacrylate and butadiene (MBR) in a manner to flatten the rugged reverse surface of the carpet, and the coating layer is dried with heat. After cutting the carpet to a prescribed size, the backing surface is coated with a synthetic resin adhesive containing 98-20% organic solvent composed of hydrocarbons, halogenated hydrocarbons and/or aromatic compounds (e.g. solvent-type urethane adhesive), and is bonded to the prescribed position of a mat base after drying the adhesive. |
