Thermosetting plastic for picture-transferring paper is prepared from ink(1) by means of pressurized molding under 20-30 kg/cm2 of pressure in the first stage and 150-200 kg/cm2 in the second stage. (1) is prepared from a solution of pH 7 mixed with 39 % formalin, 36% melamine and 18% water by reflux-reaction for 35-40 min. at a temp. of 87-90 C, with the addition of 7% methanol, a small amount of ammonium chloride, and dye. pH is controlled by the use of sodium carbonate.
