<p>A method of repair of an article such as a pipe or turbine blade (10) which method of repair involves the application of considerable thermal energy to the article, e.g. a welding operation, and wherein the article (10) is heated by flexible heating means (15,16), the flexible heating means (15,16) are held on the surface of the article (10) by fixing means (30',35), the fixing means being of a typethat may be readily undone or otherwise released to enable a part of the flexible heating means (15,16) in the repair area (27) to be temporarily removed and re-secured to allow access to the repair area (27). On completion of the repair, the heating means may be replaced over the repair area to provide heat in a controlled manner for stress relief of the article.</p> |
