摘要 PURPOSE:To obtain an electro-chemical power generating element using acidic electrolyte which can maintain a high performance for a long period of time by providing a cutting groove which passes through the upper and lower surfaces to the end in parallel to the gas flow groove of negative base substrate and by holding the storage function of paste consisting of inorganic material fine powder and electrolyte. CONSTITUTION:An oxidation agent gas flows in the direction B-B', while a reduction gas flows in the direction A-A'. A negative pole 10 is formed in such a structure that a groove 7 which stores electrolytic paste is formed and moreover a negative pole catalyst layer 8 is supported by a porous carbon negative base substrate 1, where the reduction gas flow path 5, which is subjected to water repellent processing by fluorine resin at the side and bottom surfaces, is provided. A unit power generating element is formed by closely and integrally forming such negative pole 10 and the porous carbon fiber positive pole 20 which supports the positive catalyst layer 9 which accelerates electrode reaction of oxidation agent and is composed of the positive base substrate 2 of paper of carbon fiber which has completed water repellent processing with the fluorine resin with the catalyst surfaces provided face to face, through an electrolyte matrix layer 3 where the powder mixture such as silicon carbide is impregnated with a thick phosphoric acid solution.
