PURPOSE:To offer a magnetic recording and reproducing device which can record a television signal with a compatible hish precision system by utilizing the time axis compression and expansion of a signal and a guard band on a magnetic tape. CONSTITUTION:A non-interlace signal having 525 scanning lines and a frame frequency of 60Hz is used as a high precision signal to form sum signals 3a, 3b and difference signals 4a, 4b of a luminance signal subject to time axis expansion in the unit of, e.g., 2H (horizontal period). In using a present receiver, the former is transmitted thereto and also recorded on a VTR. The latter is recorded on, e.g., the guard band portion in the VTR. In using the present receiver at reproduction, only the former is reproduced and transmitted, and in using a high precision receiver, the both are reproduced and transmitted while being restored into the original high precision signal. As to a chrominance signal, the signal is recorded and reproduced while being multiplexed to, e.g., the latter. |
