PURPOSE:To improve both maintenance efficiency and program processing efficiency by performing the maintenance operation of an input/output device via a maintenance interface and by an indication given from a program which is executed on an information processor. CONSTITUTION:In case the maintenance operation is needed for an input/output device 21, for example, during the execution of a program, a program on a processor part 11 stores the control information 6 to a memory and then executes an instruction 5. Then a subfunction code 52 and a memory address 53 are informed to a service processor part 12 from the part 11. The part 12 reads out the information 6 and sends it to input/output devices 21-23 via a maintenance interface 44. Each input/output device discriminates whether a device identification number 61 of the information 6 is coincident with the identification number of its own. Then the device 21 in which the identification numbers are made coincident performs the operations indicated by information 62 and 63, and reports the results of these operations to the prt 12 in the form of control information. |
