PRODUCTION OF PIPE HAVING COMPOSITE CONSTRUCTION

PURPOSE:To decrease the porosity of a ceramic layer and to smooth the surface by forming preliminarily the film of the silicon compd. or metallic compd. powder bound with a binder on the inside surface of a cylindrical surface prior to loading of a thermit material. CONSTITUTION:A film 5 consisting of SiO2 powder bound with a binder is formed on the inside surface of a cylindrical pipe 1 and thereafter the pipe 1 is inserted into the entire frame 6 of a centrifugal machine and both ends are fixed by bands 7, 7 each having a hole 8 in the central part. Where a prescribed rotation is attained, a spout 9 for spraying thermit is inserted into the hole 8 of he band 7 and is upset to spray a thermir material 2 into the cylinder 1 formed with the film 5. The pipe 1 is further rotated at a higher speed and the material 2 in the pipe 1 is ignited to induce a thermit reaction. The thermit material changes to a molten metal and molten ceramic which are the resulted product of said reaction. The metal and the ceramic are further separated by a difference in specific gravity. The pipe 1 is taken out the frame 6 upon completion of the reaction. The pipe having the composite structure in which the ceramic having good quality is coated on the inside surface is thus obtd.
