PURPOSE:To obtain correct read data with a swapping buffer memory by separating the corresponding data in the buffer memory and having a retrial at a requester in case a 2-bit error due to an ECC check is detected from the read data. CONSTITUTION:Swapping control is carried out between a main storage MS1 and a buffer storage BS2, and the data is transferred between both storages in a move-in/move-out system. A part of the data of the MS1 is copied to the BS2 and an error bit is corrected and sent to the MS1. The data on the validity of the data in the BS2 and the presence or absence of data writing are stored in a TAG storage 3. The information read out of the BS2 is set to a BS register 6, and the read data is sent to a requester and also undergoes an ECC check through an ECC circuit 7. When a 2-bit error is detected, the contents of a TAG word register 5 are checked. Then the bit is rewritten in order to invalidate the corresponding data, and the relevant data is separated. Then a retrial is possible at the requester. |
