PURPOSE:To prevent ground fogging from occurring and contrive to enhance preservability, by a method wherein a color forming layer consisting of a diazo compound, a coupling agent and a binder insoluble in aliphatic solvents and a base agent layer consisting of a base agent and a binder soluble in aliphatic solvents are sequentially provided on a base in this order. CONSTITUTION:The thermal recording medium 1 comprises the color forming layer 3 and the base agent layer 4 sequentially provided on the base 2. The color forming layer 3 is constituted of a layer of a binder containing a diazo compound in a dissolved stage and a coupling agent in a dissolved or dispersed state. The binder is a resin insoluble in water in the range wherein it is compatible with the diazo compound, and is soluble in organic solvents. Examples of the binder include a vinyl chloride/vinyl acetate copolymer and an acrylic resin. The base agent layer 4 is provided by dispersing a base agent into a binder soluble in aliphatic solvents. Examples of this binder include polyisobutyl methacrylate and a rosin-modified phenol. Accordingly, recording density and preservability before and after recording can be harmonized, and ground fogging can be prevented from occurring. |
