PURPOSE:To manufacture a work roll excellent in resistances to wear, surface roughening, and cracking by forming it as the work roll for a hot strip with a core material made of ductile cast iron and a cmposite outer shell layer consisting of high-Cr cast iron and high-alloy grain cast iron. CONSTITUTION:As a work roll for a hot strip mill, an outer layer consisting of the 1st and 2nd layers 3 and 4 is formed on the outside of a core material 5 made of tough ductile cast iron; where the high-Cr cast iron layer 3 contains 2-3.2% C, 0.3-1.0% Si, 0.5-1.5% Mn, <0.1% P, <0.08% S, 0.5-2.0% Ni, 10- 15% Cr, and 0.3-3% Mo, or contains further either or both of <1% Nb and <1% V, and the 2nd layer contains 2.4-3.4% C, 0.5-1.3% Si, 0.5-1.5% Mn, <0.1% P, <0.08% S, 2-4% Ni, 1-4% Cr, 0.2-1.5% Mo, or contains further, either or both of <1% Nb and <1% V. |
