PURPOSE:To press an electrode against a tile at required surface pressure even if the dispersion of thickness exists in the electrode by independently applying the force pressing the electrode against the tile and the force fastening the periphery for sealing. CONSTITUTION:In a fuel cell, a tile 1 impregnated with molten carbonate is placed between a cathode 2 and an anode 3, and they are partitioned with a separator 4 to form multiple layers. Manifold plates 5 and 6 having inner hollowed portions 5a and 6a in the center are placed between the tile 1 and the separator 4, and each periphery of the tile 1, separator 4, manifold plates 5 and 6 is fastened for sealing. The inner hollowed portions 5a and 6a are made crooked in a thickness direction to form the passage of fluid and to give spring action so as to position passage plates 7 and 8. By the passage plates 7 and 8 having spring action, the cathode 2 and anode 3 are pressed against the tile 1 at the required surface pressure. |
