<p>Rotating drum, mounted on a horizontal shaft, has a charging and discharging orifice opposite the driving end with its pulley and motor. An endless screw, coaxial with the drum, transports the skins and prods. from the opening into the drum, when the latter is rotating in one direction and discharges them when it turns in the opposite direction. The endless screw moves the skins in a progressive manner which can be controlled by altering the rotational speed of the drum. The shaft of the screw may be hollow so that liqs. can be introduced inside the drum. Introduction of the skins is facilitated when the drum turns in the working direction and the treated skins can be discharged, automatically and at a controlled rate, merely by reversing the direction of rotation.</p> |
