PURPOSE:To prevent a device from being used illegally by comparing specific password data set in the data memory of an IC card with password data set in a device before the start of copying operation and putting the devicein copying operation when a specific relation is born between both data. CONSTITUTION:The IC card which has a specific code preset in its internal data memory 5 is guided into the device and the password code read out of the data memory 5 of the IC card 1 on the basis of data transfer between a CPU 4 and a microcomputer 91 is matched with a password code that a user inputs with the ten-key 53 of a copying machine body 10, so that only when both codes coincide with each other, the copying machine body is made ready. The data memory 5 is accessed only by the CPU 4 of the card 1 and only users who can use the IC card 1 and know the password uses the copying machine. Consequently, the copying machine is prevented securely from being used illegally by counterfeiting a card or remodeling parts. |
