PURPOSE:To enable wide optical scanning with a compact device by using a rotary mirror and optical waveguides. CONSTITUTION:The light 20 emitted from a laser diode 1 passes through a convex lens 2 and is then reflected by a rotary mirror 3 having a revolving shaft 17. Since the specular surface of said mirror has rougly 45 deg. inclination with respect to the revolving shaft, the light is bent by about 90 deg. in the advance direction and thereafter the light enters a waveguide 5 through an inlet 4 of the waveguide and is radiated as divergent light from an outlet 6. The radiated light is converged by a micro lens array 7 and sensitizes a photosensitive body 8 on the surface of a photosensitive drum 11, by which said light is recorded on the recording papaer. The entire section of a glass base plate 9 is first uniform but a high refractive index layer 10 is formed thereto by diffusing the ion to increase the refractive index thereon. Grooves 13 are then formed according to a pattern. The depth of the grooves 13 by etching is deeper than the depth of the layer 10. The divergent light emitted from the outlet 6 of the waveguide 5 is focused by the array 5 and is thus imaged. |
