The invention describes a modular linear analyser or line scanner. It is characterised in that it comprises a scanning module, an optical module, a detector-preamplifier module, a reference source module and an optional thermal stabilisation module. The various modules are mounted, interchangeably, on a small optical bench. The invention applies to the field of monitoring thermal phenomena in industry, by thermography techniques. <IMAGE>
