PURPOSE:To convert a substrate of any material into a usable one by a method wherein a combination of one or two oxide constituting a superconductive compound and a high melting point metal undergoes transformation whey thay are exposed to a high energy laser beam. CONSTITUTION:A layer 2 of a Ge oxide or an Si oxide or a mixture of said oxides if formed on a substrate 3. A thin film 1 of a high metling point metal of Nb1-xVx(1>=X>=0) is formed on a layer 2 by means of the electron beam heating technique. A high energy laser beam originated in the laser 4A and transmitted through an optical system 4B scans in a desired pattern the combination of the film 1 and the layer 2 from above the upper surface of the film 1. The combination locally heated along the pattern results in the formation of a thin film 5 of a superconductive compound (Nb1-xVx)3Ge1-ySi(1>=y>=0) and an oxide layer 6 of a high melting point metal Nb1-xVx. |
