COLOR IMAGE PICKUP DEVICE PROVIDED WITH PLURAL SOLID- STATE IMAGE PICKUP ELEMENTS

PURPOSE:To obtain a color picture with high quality by shifting picture element pitch of solid-state image pickup elements in the horizontal direction and also applying a color filter arrangement corresponding to each picture element. CONSTITUTION:The solid-state image pickup elements SID1 and SID2 are given with respect to an optical image of an identical object O and arranged so as to be shifted by a half of the pitch of the horizontal picture elements with respect to the picture element for the corresponding position to each element. A color separation optical filter F of the same constitution where a prescribed repetition of color filter arrangement corresponding to each picture element of the solid- state image pickup elements exists is applied to the two solid-state image pickup elements SID1, SID2. Samplers SP1, SP2 extract a sample with a phase difference of 180 deg. from each other and transmits a chrominance multiplex signal to an output terminal 3.
