PURPOSE:To improve the cutting ability of a chip and widen the range of chip processing by increasing the thickness of the chip produced by a throw away tip. CONSTITUTION:When a feed amount of a throw away tip 4 per rotation of a work W is denoted by f, an angle between a linear part 43a and a feed direction of the top 4 is denoted by theta, and a depth of a cavity part 43c is denoted by h, the cutting is conducted under the established condition of h<f.Sintheta. There is produced a chip 7 having a projecting part 7a at a part corresponding to the cavity part 43c and continuous in a width direction. An apparent thickness T becomes thicker than a thickness t by an amount of the cavity 43c formed. Therefore, the strain induced at the projecting part 7a is larger than that induced at any other part of the chip 7, and consequently the chip is cracked to be cut off at the projecting part 7a. |
