The invention relates to a quick-acting clamping device, in particular for fastening a vehicle wheel to the mounting shaft of a balancing machine. The quick-acting clamping device has a wing nut in which a threaded segment can be moved radially by means of a lever. The threaded segment is spring-preloaded. To secure the threaded segment in the operating position and furthermore to ensure rapid release of the quick-acting clamping device, the threaded segment has an elongated hole or a blind bore which is aligned with a bore made in the wing nut. Arranged in the bore is a catch and actuating bolt or pin which passes through the elongated hole or can be pushed into the blind bore and is in operative connection with a lever arrangement which can be brought into engagement with the threaded segment in such a way that, when the lever is actuated, first the catch and actuating bolt or pin is moved out of the advanced operating position or the threaded-segment catch position and then the threaded segment is moved out of its advanced operating position into the retracted release position. <IMAGE>
