PURPOSE:To detect the damage of a glass body readily, by sealing a glass fiber in the glass body, and inputting light in the fiber. CONSTITUTION:A glass fiber 6 is sealed in a glass body 5. A light source 1 and a loss meter 12 are connected by light receptacles 4 and 7 and light plugs 3 and 8. When the glass body 5 is damaged, the optical fiber 6 is broken at the same time. Then the amount of the light emitted from the light source 1 is changed to a large extent, and the breakdown is indicated on the loss meter 12. When an appropriate measuring instrument is used, the position of the breakdown can be found by the reflected pulse wave. When this constitution is applied to window glass and the like, the maintenance of the glass is convenient, and the position of the breakdown can be found. Therefore, countermeasures can be readily carried out. |
