PURPOSE:To prevent any short circuits which might be caused by the expansion of the positive electrode caused due to electric discharge and realize a satisfactory discharge capacity of a flat organic electrolyte battery by using a light metal as a negative active material, providing the periphery of the separator with a film-like area thinner than the other area and placing the film-like area between the gasket and the positive electrode. CONSTITUTION:A flat organic electrolyte battery is constituted of a stainless- steel battery case 1 also serving as a positive terminal, a sealing plate 2 made of a stainless steel and also serving as a negative terminal, lithium 3, a molded positive mixture 4, a separator 10 made of a nonwoven polypropylene fabric and also serving as a liquid-holding member and a polypropylene gasket 6. Electrolyte for the battery is prepared by dissolving lithium borofluoride in a mixture liquid consisting of propylene carbonate and 1,2-dimethoxyethane. The periphery of the separator 10 is subjected to heating or hot press to form a film-like area 11 having a thickness about 1/5-1/10 of the thickness of a non-treated area 12 located between the positive and the negative electrodes 4 and 3. The area 11 works as a circumference wall 13 installed between the gasket 6 and the positive electrode 4. |
