PURPOSE:To eliminate the wetting phenomenon of ink at the tip of nozzle by providing a mechanism to coat a water repellent on the tip of the nozzle of ink jet head to the front of the print waiting fixed position of the head. CONSTITUTION:A mechanism 26 to coat a water repellent on the tip of the nozzle 22 of an ink jet head 21 is set in the face of the print waiting fixed position of the head 21. When a drive power source is not made, the head 21 is stopped at its home position, and the water repellent-impregnated ribbon 26a of the mechanism 26 is contacted with the tip of the nozzle 22. When the head 21 moves toward the direction of printing, water repellent film is repeatedly coated on the tip of the nozzle 22 of the head 21 each time the printing operation is made. Therefore, the water repellency of the tip of the nozzle 22 can be kept semi-permanently, and the wetting phenomenon of ink can be eliminated. |
