The double ladder is provided with two pairs of uprights which are interconnected in an articulated manner and has at least two steps which are interconnected by connecting rods. Provided on one step is a positive guide in the form of a slot for a guide part. A stop lies in front of this step in the direction of loading of the step, as a result of which the steps are secured against pivoting during loading. The stop moreover prevents the pairs of uprights being pivoted in a direction towards one another during displacement of the folded-out double ladder.
