PURPOSE:To improve current collecting capacity and also the life of a storage battery by forming plates out of a conducting material which is made by covering a metal core having a good conductivity whose electric resistance is smaller than that of lead or a lead alloy with lead or lead alloy sheets, and by connecting these plates in parallel. CONSTITUTION:A core body (a) of a material such as copper or aluminum is covered by a sheet (b) formed out of lead and lead alloy and whose thickness is less than 1.5mm.. The core body (a) covered with sheet (b) is placed in a mold, and a melted alloy of lead and antimony is poured into the mold to form a conducting material (A) with cast part (c). Thus formed conducting material (A) is incorporated as conducting bodies 5 and 8 in an electrical vessel 4 wherein a positive plate 1, a negative plate 2 and a separator 3 are all made in a clad form and are arranged in layers. The conducting body 5 is connected to a lug 6 of the positive plate 1 via a connecting projection 7 while the conducting body 8 is connected to a lug 9 of the negative plate 2 via a connecting projection 10. A storage battery having this construction exhibits improved current collecting capacity, long life and high efficiency. |
