Vesicles are described, composed of layers, which are probably monomolecular, of amphiphilic molecules and spacers defining the curvature, comprising: A I) alpha , omega -dicarboxylic acids and/or their derivatives having at least 14 C atoms as amphiphilic molecules and II) carbocyclic or heterocyclic amines having at least 5 ring atoms as spacers, the amines being present as ammonium groups and bound salt-like to a carboxylate function of the alpha , omega -dicarboxylic acid, or B I) alpha , omega -difunctional compounds having at least 14 C atoms as amphiphilic molecules and II) compounds having at least two polar functional groups and one carbocyclic or heterocyclic ring consisting of at least 5 atoms as spacers, one polar functional group of the spacer being covalently linked to a functional group of the amphiphilic molecule, a process is described for producing these vesicles, in which either an alpha , omega -dicarboxylic acid is suspended in water, an amine serving as a spacer having a carbocyclic or heterocyclic, at least 5-membered, ring is added in excess to the aqueous suspension, and the suspension is vigorously stirred or insonified with ultrasound, or an alpha , omega -difunctional compound having at least 14 C atoms is ... in a manner known per se with 1 to 2 mol of a compound having at least 2 polar functional groups and a carbocyclic or heterocyclic, at least 5-membered, ring, ...
