A process is provided for improving the storability and keeping quality of foods stored in refrigerators or freezers or cold stores, in which process a mixed cloud of water mist and molecules of a gas preventing oxidation and/or the occurrence of biological processes promoting decay is produced over the stored material in the chambers or rooms and is held in suspension.
