The apparatus for the purification of flue gases in furnaces is composed of a housing which can be mounted on a conventional stack of a domestic or industrial furnace, which, in conjunction with a weather protection cover arranged at a height above the opening of the stack, forms a baffle chamber for the unpurified flue gases under forced flow. A downward-directed water curtain is produced in the region of the baffle chamber, the water leaving the housing via an outlet arranged on the bottom plate of the housing. The unpurified flue gases pass through the water curtain, are purified as a result and then leave the housing. <IMAGE>
