PURPOSE:To reduce a time length necessary for reparation of trouble of submarine optical fiber cable by filling a resin in all the space inside the outermost metallic pipe in the certain length of the cable in the longitudinal direction located at proper intervals and forming partition walls for preventing propagation of invading water through the inside of the cable. CONSTITUTION:The submarine cable consists of a piano wire as a central supporting wire 1, silicon-coated optical fiber core 2 gathering concentrically on the wire 1, a core buffer layer 3 made of silicone rubber for forming a core, and an aluminum tape wound on the core for arranging it in order and forming an inner metallic layer 4, and around it, an outer metallic pipe layer 6 formed by welding bodies 5 high in tensile strength with a wound aluminum tape. Used resins 9, 9' are filled into both the inner and outer pipes 4, 6 in each pipe forming step by injecting a silicone type adhesive from the gap of the tube and filling the spaces between the core buffer layer 3 and the inner pipe 4 and between the bodies 5 and the outer pipe 6. |
