In a single-pipe boiler, the pipe is, in the range below the saturated steam temperature in the combustion chamber (A) Fig. I, coiled in such a manner that the temperature differences and thus stresses of neighbouring pipes are so small that the finned pipes can be welded to one another in a gastight manner without danger, or the skin casing can be welded to the pipes. By means of this pipe coiling, the boiler can be drained. The cold feedwater can be heated in a separate heat exchanger by the single pipe of the boiler to such an extent that low-temperature corrosion does not occur in the economiser (C). <IMAGE>
