PURPOSE:To obtain a graphite fluoride-lithium battery with high discharge voltage and flatness by using specific graphite fluoride obtained by actuating a mixture of HF and F2 in carbon material as the positive electrode active material. CONSTITUTION:Graphite fluoride whose surface gap by x-ray diffraction is 6.5- 5.8Angstrom obtained by actuating a mixture of hydrogen fluoride and fluorine gas in carbon material is used as the positive electrode active material Li is used as the negative electrode active material. When above fluorine carbon is produced, the existence ratio of HF and F2 is set within 2.5 to 97.5 through 99.5 to 0.5 (molar fraction) and temperature is set to -40-100 deg.C, desirably -20-50 deg.C. As the carbon material to be used, natural graphite, mesophase pitch, carbon whisker, and easy to graphatize carbon such as petroleum coke, pitch coke, vinyl carbon chloride coke, etc. are properly used. A reaction product has the (CxF)n composition (1.9<=x<=2.5) and the x value can be varied with the reaction time. |
