PURPOSE:To control satisfactorily meandering without causing any hindrance in rolling by storing the position of a rolling material in its width direction basing on a biting signal of material and providing a means which gives the stored signal as a target value of the control quantity of meandering. CONSTITUTION:When the tip of a rolling material (a) is bitten by a rolling mill 1, a load cell 3 detects it and outputs a signal 6 of the change of a rolling down force to a comparator 7. After comparing the load signal 6 with a set signal 8, a biting signal 10 is inputted to a timing-generation circuit 9, which outputs a timing signal 11 to a storage circuit 12. A signal 20 of a meander detector 13 is previously inputted to the circuit 12, in which the position of material (a) at the time of inputting the signal 11 is stored. The position of material (a) is inputted to an adder 14 as a target-value signal 19, to output its deviation 16 from the position signal 20 outputted from the detector 13 to a meander controlling adjuster 15 so as to treat the deviation. A roll gap is adjusted by controlling a rolling reduction device 2 basing on the treating signal to control the position in the width direction of material (a) to the position at the time of biting. |
