PURPOSE:To hold exactly and easily the indexing angle of an index table in particular by using the function specific to a reduction gear unit to an index device. CONSTITUTION:A motor shaft and a one-way clutch 13 are connected by means of a pressing spring and therefore a worm 19 is rotated reverse by a timing belt 22 to remove the backlash of the worm 19 engaged with a worm gear 20 and thereafter the gear 20 and a pinion 21 are cooperatively rotated, by which a gear wheel 5, a saw tooth wheel 6 and an index table 3 are rotated reverse until an angle determining wall 8 engages tightly with a detent pawl 24, then the table 3 is substantially stopped by the slipping effect of the pressing spring and immediately thereafter the reverse rotating circuit is opened upon termination of the timer set with a timer. On the other hand, the worm gear 20 of a reduction gear unit 17 is detained together with the pinion 21 by the worm 19, by which the detaining effect of preventing the table from moving in both backward and forward directions is generated. The effect of detaining and holding extremely tightly the table 3 at the prescribed stop angle is continued until the next forward rotation. |
