NEW MATERIAL:T-23-V Substance shown by the formula I and T-23-VI substance shown by the formula II. USE:Having antitumor activity, being expected as an antitumor agent. PREPARATION:T-23- I Substance shown by the formula III or T-23-II substance of its reduction type shown by the formula IV is brought into contact with a culture of a bacterium or its variant such as Bacillus megaterium IAM1030, IAM1032, IAM1166, etc. belonging to the genus Bacillus, capable of converting the substance to a corresponding 34-hydroxy derivative, or to a treated material of it at 20-50 deg.C at 5-7pH for 1-100hr, to give a compound shown by the formula I or a compound of its reduction type shown by the formula II which are reversely convertible each other by oxidation and reduction. The concentration of the raw material in the reaction solution is properly 10-500mug/ml.
